What

Round 4 of the Victorian State Mountain Bike XC Series

Where

A hand built race track at “Jubber Land”, about 8 km from Castlemaine.

Motor Vehicle directions to Course:

  • Proceed into Castlemaine via Chewton.
  • Turn left at the traffic lights (sign posted to Daylesford).
  • Continue on Midland Highway until "Five Flags Hotel".
  • Turn Left onto Campbells Creek - Fryers Road.
  • Proceed for approx.4-5km and enter gate on the right (about 250m past Spring Gully Road).

Signs will be up from the traffic lights in Castlemaine.

Christmas Social Ride

Rocky Riders Christmas Social Ride

Rocky Riders Christmas Social Ride will be held on Sunday 23rd December  - Mount Franklin to Castlemaine along the dry diggings trail. Moderate fitness and skills required. Initial plans are to meet at the Theatre Royal at 10am to grab a coffee. BBQ Lunch at Vaughan Springs along the way. Due to the need for a car shuffle and permit conditions in the National Park, this ride is limited to 20 people and

Social Ride And AGM

SOCIAL MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE

This Sunday (21st October) – meet at 10am at Castlemaine Cycles/Theatre Royal for coffee and a 10.30 departure out toward the Pineys. All abilities welcome and encouraged to attend.

AGM

The Rocky Riders are holding their Annual General Meeting on Sunday 21 October at the Theatre Royal “brickyard” following the social ride (approx. 1 pm). All existing and prospective members are encouraged to attend. Free BBQ and Drinks! RSVP to info@rockyriders.com to help with catering.

We are also seeking nominations for committee positions, as the committee is sadly a little depleted with the loss of Evan, Justine and Lowndsey. Nominations should be forwarded to info@rockyriders.com, or on the day.

Social Ride At 6-hour Course

SOCIAL RIDE – 1st July 2007

The Rocky Riders are hosting a social ride around the Jubber Land track this Sunday, 1 July 2007. For the youngsters (under 13s) there will be a come‘n’try session from 9.30 – 10.30 am (must have own serviceable mountain bike, helmet and a parent/guardian to sign insurance form). Departing at 11am the big kids can have a play, with a social ride around Jubber Land and maybe a few of the nearby trails for those who want more. Fast and Slow groups. Social Ride

March 10, 2007

We will be holding a social mountain bike ride from 2pm Saturday 10 March 2007, departing from “the brickyard” between the theatre Royal and Castlemaine Cycles, 28 Hargraves Street Castlemaine. Parking is available near the Tennis courts (turn left at the round-a-bout as you enter town from Melbourne). The ride will be followed by a big barbeque back at the Theatre Royal. Al cost of $3 for mtba members and $8 for non-mtba members (includes MTBA day-participation permit) will get you a super single track ride and barbeque. Hope you can make it.

Christmas Social Ride & BBQ Has Been Postponed

December 10, 2006

The Rocky Riders wont hold their annual Christmas Mountain Bike Ride and BBQ at the Vaughan Springs Reserve on 10 December 2006. It has been postponed, due to the filthy hot weather forecast.  If you turn up and nobody is about then you should have checked this message.  Merry Chirstmas.  Please lay blame on climate change and rampaging bushfires for the cancellation of our fun.....Next social ride will be a awesome singletrack extraganza in January..if its not too hot

Enduro Course Social Ride

August 6, 2006

Come and do a few laps of the Castlemaine Enduro 6-hour Course.

Option 1 - Meet at the carpark behind the information centre at 10am and ride (via mountain bike trails) out to the course (approx 40 minutes) do a few laps and ride back to castlemaine

Option 2 - Meet at the enduro course at 10.45.

Motor Vehicle directions to Enduro Course: Proceed into Castlemaine via Chewton. Turn left at the traffic lights (sign posted to Daylesford). Continue on

Midland Highway
until "Five Flags Hotel". Turn Left onto Campbells Creek -

Queens Birthday Social Ride

June 12, 2006

The rocky riders are celebrating the birthday of the Queen in style, with a tour of all 25km of single track in the Moonlight Flat Pine Plantation.Come and learn your way around the infamous "Pineys Singletrack", voted best winter riding destination in Victoria (albeit by us!)

There will be two groups - fast and medium - but all riders need to possess a reasonable suite of mountain bike skills.

10am departure from the carpark opposite the gun club on Colles road, Castlemaine. MTBA members $3; Non-members $8 (including day license).

Wednesday Night Rides

April 21, 2006

Weds night rides start from Castlemaine Cycles at 5.45 pm.  28 Hargraves street Castlemaine. 

Rides generally last from 2-21/2 hours.  Skill level and fitness is medium to high. 

Riders have to be self supporting and have access to good quality lights.  Untill the return of daylight saving returns.

The treasure hunt requires you and your bike to follow a set of clues and with the map provided of Castlemaine www.maldoncastlemaine.com you answer as many/little questions in the time provided. Prizes up for grabs include the official Fat Tyre Fest Wine, Dinner @ local eatery and more!!! Oh yeah and the BIG ONE!!!!!

The treasure hunt will run for 2 hours you need to be back at the Theatre Royal by 12.30pm. For every minute you are late you loose 5 points. Arrive 15 minutes late and you are disqualifed you miss out on the chance to win a Cannondale Frame and other great prizes.
